About Abhainn Rí

Abhainn Rí is located on farmland overlooking stunning views the kings river valley which flows into the Blessington lakes. Abhainn Rí farm has been in the Byrne family for five generations and is currently owned by Joe & Niamh Byrne. Our children Eoin & Cliona shall be the sixth generation.

Over the years lots of relatives came to stay on holidays and loved it so back in the 1990’s we decided to create a tourism enterprise so that guests could come and stay on the farm and enjoy its scenic beauty.

We started by building four self-catering cottages in 2002 and called it Abhainn Rí (Kings River) as the river flows into the lake just below us the farm.

Then in 2007 we opened up access to the farmland which allowed guests the freedom to walk to the lake shore and visit the high cross on the hill.

In 2013 we renovated the 175 year old farmhouse into a Farmhouse B&B restoring all its features and creating two bedrooms with stunning views for couples to enjoy.

In 2018 we built the garden suite to accommodate guests who wished to stay in the B&B but with the addition of a kitchenette.

In 2021 we are currently creating a looped mindfulness walking trail for guests to enjoy.

All guests arriving at Abhainn RÍ are welcomed with a home baked treat on arrival both in the cottages and B&B. We both love cooking at Abhainn Rí and our guests enjoy our home baked treats.

Niamh also gives baking classes and afternoon tea for special occasions for family groups. She also loves all kinds of crafts which can be found everywhere.
Joe loves gardening and has planted flowers, shrubs and lots of hedgerow for the wild birds. He also takes care of all our friendly farm animals.

All Guests staying at Abhainn Ri are welcome to book in for breakfast, baking classes or afternoon tea in Abhainn Rí Farmhouse.

During spring 2021 we created a mindfulness farm trail for our guests to enjoy exploring lots of areas around the farm and visit our selection of farm animals.
