Sustainable Tourism Network
We are delighted to become a member of the Sustainable Tourism Network.
Sustainable tourism prioritizes environmental, social, and economic impacts, ensuring tourism benefits both visitors and host communities while protecting natural resources and cultural heritage. It involves minimizing harm and maximizing benefits, considering the needs of all stakeholders, including visitors, the industry, and the environment.
We have completed our plans created with the National Parks and Wildlife Services. We are managing a biodiversity system by creating wild flower meadows, a pond, planting natural hardwood trees and hedgerows. We have placed bat, bird, and owl boxes on the farm. We cut the meadows when all the seeds are in the ground in the early autumn. We have noticed lots of nature birds have appeared that have been absent for some time, such as the woodpecker and the cuckoo.
Looking forward to creating a sustainable energy plan for Abhainn Ri in 2025-2026.
We are excited to be a member of The Sustainable Tourism Network and work closely with them on our future plans.
"The Sustainable Tourism Network (STN), formerly Sustainable Travel Ireland, is Ireland’s leading and longest-running body for promoting and supporting sustainable tourism. STN is dedicated to inspiring, supporting, and promoting sustainable and regenerative tourism."
